OKEHAMPTON LADIES’ firsts 4

PLYM VALLEY LADIES 1

OKEHAMPTON ladies’ first team came out all guns blazing at home against Plym Valley on Saturday.

With Sophie Whitley scoring a goal in the first two minutes following a short corner which went in off the post Okehampton kept up the pace and were rewarded with a second - this time by Kim McGratten, who fired the ball into the back of the net.

As the game progressed Plym Valley turned an Oke attack around and scored but the home side were not finished yet.

Okehampton dominated the second half. With blistering pace, player of the match Amy Taylor passed Plym Valleys defenders and found Lucy Wiseman, who widened the score line to 3-1. Plym Valley tried to get through Okehampton’s defence but with no success.

A subtle play between Claire Grubb and Lesley Bingham split the opposition’s defence, ending the game with a respectable 4-1 win with a goal from Bingham.

Okehampton are pleased to leave the bottom of the table and will head to Exeter on Saturday looking to build on their winning ways.
