THIS was an enjoyable game for the players with both teams playing a fair and friendly hockey match.
An early short corner was awarded quickly after kick-off with Okehampton’s Sophie Whiteley pushing out a great ball to Jo Moppett; Kim Davey did a superb one-two with Moppett before taking the final strike to score.
This revived Okehampton and the team energy was high. Working well as a team Abi Colton, Molly Marvin, and Emily Rowlands pushed the ball forward, sending it across the pitch for Davey. Davey hit a strong ball in for Rowlands to pick-up and score.
The goals kept coming for the visitors despite the strong defence from Torbay.
After an opportunity from a reset Moppett saw the moment to fly down the pitch and strike from the top circle scoring a third goal. The Oke defence of Amanda Sim, Nicky Pedrick, and Laura Parsons worked well to keep the Torbay forwards away from their goal while Alice Wiseman, in goal, proved great vocal support to guide the team.
The final goal of the first half came from Hannah Whiteley who received a strong ball from Moppett into the circle, who pushed it home from the post.
Okehampton stuck to their game with Jess Medland and Sophie Whiteley keeping the energy and fluidity in the centre. Another short corner was awarded to the visitors which led Davey scoring with a strong hit. Now on a roll the team pushed forward and Davey struck another ball into the circle for Moppett, who found the back of the net.
The final goal was scored by Anna Speak, who worked hard in the circle all the game. Her accurate strike was taken to the left corner to complete the match with a score of 7-0.
