Okehampton ladies 3
Plym Valley ladies 1
FOURTH placed Okehampton welcomed second placed team Plym Valley for the final match of the season.
Plym Valley were quick to take the lead with a converted short corner after five minutes. However, it gave Okehampton the wakeup call they needed and quick passes between Jo Moppett, Hannah Whiteley and Lesley Bingham allowed Bingham to score a super goal, striking from the top of the D.
The home side's defence was threatened several times but Jane Jones, Carol Taylor, Rachel Hammett and Nicola Stoneman worked tirelessly to stop any counter attacks.
The boat, however, started to rock when Katie Adams took a ball to the knee and had to be stretchered off the pitch. Anna Cherrington stepped in and Shannon Osman had to make several crucial saves. The whistle blew for half time with the score at 1-1.
Okehampton came out hungry for the ball and fighting for an end of season victory. Jo Drake found player of the match Kim Davey who smashed the ball across the pitch to a waiting Moppet to slot the goal in behind the keeper.
Several errors from Plym Valley led to a short corner which Moppet converted by reacting quickly to lift the ball over the keeper following a rebound.
With a final score of 3-1 and a fourth place finish in the table, Okehampton finished on a high and celebrated with the second women's team and two men's team who all won their final games of the winter season.
