DART ladies’ were placed third in the league so Okehampton knew it was going to be a tough match.
The game was started by an early attack from Okehampton resulting in a short corner but they were unable to convert.
Dart used the turnover to quickly break and penetrate the Okehampton defence resulting in a short corner and an unfortunate goal. This fired up the Okehampton attackers and lead to three quick goals for the home team from Jo Moppett and Hannah Whitely.
Although, there was some excellent play in the middle by Louise Wellar and Sophie Whitely, Okehampton could not convert any more goals in the first half.
Going into the second half the score was 3-1 to the home team; Okehampton quickly got the game restarted by an early attack and another successful goal from Laura Parsons on the post. This resulted in some pressure on the defence as Dart heightened their attack but with some good teamwork and great clearing by goalkeeper Alice Wiseman they did not concede another goal.
With some more excellent attacking from Okehampton they were able to force mistakes from Dart’s defence resulting in a penalty flick for the home side; this was successfully taken by captain Kim Davey resulting in the goal of the match and the fifth for Oke.
Moppett scored her third goal as the match ended at 6-1 to Okehampton.
With four games to play Okehampton are 10 points clear and have secured their place at the top of the league and promotion next season.
