OKEHAMPTON’s first team ladies travelled to Bude for their first league game after the festive holidays.

When the Columbines last played Bude they were beaten at home and were determined to reverse that result.

Bude had first push back and quickly scored their first goal. With the low lying light, making visibility poor the team struggled and the home side quickly scored their second goal.

Undeterred Okehampton came back strong, with large amounts of possession. This paid off and the visitors had several short corner opportunities.

Kim McGatten scored Okehampton’s first goal from a short, with the help of Sophie Whitley pushing out and Anna Crome, Molly Petherbridge, Amanda Sim, Lesley Bingham and Oke player of the match Lucy Wiseman supporting in the short corner.

At half time the score was 3-1 to the hosts but after a confidence boost from Nicky Pedrick on the side line Okehampton started the second half in high hopes. However, Bude kept scoring.

The Okehampton defence had strength in the centre from Emelia Bazeley and Nicky Pedrick and on the wing Helen Dalton and Kim McGratten.

Jennie Humphry stepped up to first team in goal and put up a good fight.

However, Bude continued to run circles around the visitors. The final score was 5-2 to Bude.
