IN division one of the Okehampton and district Table Tennis League Tavistock went marching on with a convincing 10-0 win against North Wyke.

Tom Misselbrook took Roger Bowkett to a fourth leg decider. Tavistock then won the next seven games in straight sets.

In the last singles match Enrique Cancer Berrotta also took Roger to five five sets, losing out 11-4 in the fifth. Roger and Mark Bennett beat Tom and Enrique in the doubles.

Bridestowe were at home to Okehampton A.

The visitors raced into a 3-0 lead before Mark Fogerty pulled one back for Bridestowe beating Karen Stephenson. Okehampton then went on to win the next three. Mark won his in a hard fought five sets against Steve Madge for his second singles’ win.

Steve Tyler scored a fine maximum and Karen and Steve both did well to win two singles each for an 8-2 win for Okehampton A.

In division two Anchorage B took on bottom club Okehampton E. Anchorage were too experienced and went on to win 10-0.

Young Tom Madge did well to take David Wilson to a third leg decider in the last singles. Dave won 11-5 and went to join Dave Vanstone to win the doubles against Tom and Conner Madge.

This win takes Anchorage B two points ahead of club rivals Anchorage A, who have two games in hand. The young team played against stronger opposition and should improve next year.

Horrabridge B were at home to Gunnislake. Jack Flockton beat James Emony in the first game. Gill Northey beat Penny O’Neil, who was playing in the league for the first time, to level at 1-1.

David Stewart lost to Michael Alexander in a hard fought fifth set decider while Jack Flockton won his second against Gill and Michael beat James to go 4-0 ahead.

Horrabridge then stepped up a gear winning the next four games to lead 5-4. Jack and Michael won the doubles against Gill and James for an honourable 5-5 draw. David did well to beat Jack, who had already won two singles; Gill won two singles as did David for Horrabridge.

Milton Abbot B played Moretonhampstead. Tom Doidge beat Ken Underhill but David May beat Angherad Beaman to level.

David went on to win his next two for a fine maximum. His son James, playing only his second match, did well to win two singles, only beaten by Angherad, who also won two.

Ken just managed to beat young George Anderson in the third set and joined David in the doubles against Tom and Ang for a 7-3 win for Moretonhampstead.
