Ashburton won by 67 runs.
TAVISTOCK entertained Ashburton at The Ring on Saturday, hoping to pick up a win to avoid relegation tears.
Batting first, Ashburton made a sticky start. 14-year-old Jack Bellamy took two early wickets in an impressive spell.
Ashburton regrouped and Churchill, Lacey and Yeo rebuilt the innings. Dropped catches didn’t help Tavistock’s cause and at 173-3, Ashburton looked at a big score.
Tavistock’s mixture of young and old did a great job restricting Ashburton to 214 all out, Andy Gauler 2-30 and 15-year-old Jacob Staig with 3-44 kept them in check.
Tavistock’s innings was disappointing. A few got starts but failed to push on.
Phil Bees got 37, Will Scott-Munden with 32 did well but only Matt anderson with 19 furthered the cause and with Ashburton captain Chris Yeo taking 4-21 the innings subsided to 145 all out.
