THE annual cross-country Weaver Cup competition for larger primary schools in the Okehampton Learning Community took place at Sticklepath. Becky and Jim Mawle of Willey Farm, once again hosted the event.
South Tawton, Chagford, North Tawton, Okehampton and Hathereleigh primary schools all entered with 108 children taking part in nine teams.
Although the weather was disappointingly wet, spirits were not dampened and it was a close fought competition.
Scores needed to be checked as the final result was so close but South Tawton A team carried the trophy back to school for the ninth time since the first competition was set up in 1997 by Ann Weaver, a teacher at South Tawton School.
This is the last year that Mrs Weaver will be organising the event and so she was delighted that her team were victorious.
All the teams were a credit to their schools.
