Devon and Exeter three
South Zeal Utd 4
Colaton Raleigh 2
WITH both teams in the top five of the league this was always going to be a tight contest and so it proved with South Zeal claiming all three points after a spirited fight back by the visitors.
South Zeal took the lead after 15 minutes when Daniel Gibbs placed a great free kick into the path of Harley Cann who placed his header wide of the Colaton keeper.
Good football by both sides produced end to end action and South Zeal went two up when Harley Cann was put through down the left by Redd Cann and his cross found Darren Gilbert who finished from close range.
With South Zeal's defence solid the home side were creating the better chances and 10 minutes later they went three up when Ben Davey put Scott Hooper through and his right foot finish gave the visiting keeper no chance.
Colaton reduced the deficit just before half time when a shot from inside the penalty area spun off Lee Gilbert and into the South Zeal net.
The visitors pushed on in the second half and only some great defending and a very good display by Reg Wonnacott in the South Zeal goal kept them out until a scramble from a corner in the home sides penalty area saw the visitors reduce the deficit from close range.
As Colaton pushed forward for the equaliser Darren Gilbert and Harley Cann began to get more room and with 10 minutes left a great crossfield pass by Garry Smith found Harley free and he beat two defenders before an excellent finish to give South Zeal a well deserved win.
