ONE of the oldest established running races in the area, the Tavy 7, has opened up for entries — and the first person to sign up is faster than a speeding bullet.

‘Superman’ also known as Steve Neal, has entered the race, which takes place on Sunday October 25,

Organisers have naturally allocated ‘Superman’ race number 1.

Race director Allan Herdman said: ‘We are delighted that our first entry was from Superman. He has made the Tavy 7 one of his feature races annually and it is only right that we recognise his good work for charity and allocate him the elite race number 1.

‘He will be out on the undulating, scenic seven mile course collecting money in his bucket and entertaining runners and spectators. It’s a delight to welcome him back.’ ‘Superman’ has been running races since 2002 in aid of NSPCC and has collected over £4,000 in over 100 races for the charity. He said: ‘I love flying around the Tavy 7, the crowds and runners are so friendly & generous. A pleasant change from all those baddies I deal with in the city!’
