ON Sunday Okehampton Hockey Club U12s girls team travelled to Exeter for the last day of the U12 Devon league.

They played four games, losing the first two games and winning the other two.

Against Teign captain Molly Marvin led her team from midfield encouraging them to follow her example of tirelessly putting pressure on the opposition. After a spell of strong attacking play Oke were rewarded when Olivia Rubbra slotted the ball into the Teign goal to take the lead. Okehampton stepped up their game with Emily Rowlands tackling well at left half. Anna Speak sealed Oke's victory with a perfectly placed shot on goal to give a final score of 2-0.

Oke's final game was against Exeter Hornets who forced defender Heidi Ansty to make some well timed and crucial tackles to prevent Hornets from shooting at goal. Anna Luxton cleared the ball well leading to attacker Fran Matthews putting her team into the lead with a well taken goal.

Hornets were determined to equal the score but superb attacking goal keeping from Oke's keeper, Louise Gleeson-Warren ensured the team came away with their second victory.
