IN the Okehampton Ladies League Jammie Dodgers beat Sparks 29-19.
Jammie Dodgers continue to dominate the play in division two and they were in charge from the start. Sparks however came out with a positive attitude and soon found themselves to be matching the play of their opponents. An early injury to Sharon Stephens meant Sparks had to change some players however this did not deter them.
Jammie Dodgers play in centre court was faultless and Sparks struggled to match them for speed and Jammie Dodgers began to pull ahead. Sparks challenged the lead towards the end however had left it a little too late and Jammie's secured another comfortable win.
Other results: FBI 60 Jesters 12; Magpies 36 Hawks Tor 36; Lifton 41 Bradford Belles 28; Starburst 26 Bluebirds 14 and Honey Bees 24 Storm 13.
Okehampton Junior Netball League
DESPITE being a smaller number of teams than usual the 2012/13 season
Okehampton Junior Netball League produced some fine netball with improvements being made both individually and as a team.
There was an excellent spirit throughout the season with all teams showing great sportsmanship and encouragement of each other throughout.
Jems were overall winners of the league not losing a match all season, with Illuminators the runners up.
A new shield for player of the season was presented this year by Adrian Raymond on behalf of Okehampton Lions to Verity Hansen from TDAS.
Wendy Raymond presented a netball to the most improved team awarded to Fabulous Foxes.
The season finished with a tournament which produced some fast and exciting games with all the matches being closely contested. Some excellent defending from all teams prevented the shooters from making the games high scoring and TDAS just edged ahead to win all their matches to take the tournament with Jems in second, Illuminators third and Fabulous Foxes in fourth.
Player of the tournament went to Laura Butt of the Fabulous Foxes. Awards to those who had impressed the umpires throughout the tournament: Victoria Mugilston (Illuminators), Nya Jewell (Jems) and Alice Wiseman (TDAS),
The junior league will be holding its annual meeting on Monday, March 4 at 7.30pm in Parklands Leisure Centre – all welcome.
