OKEHAMPTON’s team was a mixture of youth and experience. Their strategy was to play an attacking game and push forward from the starting whistle forcing the university side to drop back and defend.

Attackers Maddie Arden and Emily Rowlands combined well passing the ball around and outwitting the Uni defenders. Arden was unlucky not to convert this pressure into a goal when her shot hit the post.

Oke’s positive play was rewarded when Emma Wiseman sped up the right side and crossed the ball into the circle finding Sarah Bazeley in a perfect position to hammer the ball into the back of the net.

The University team were more determined in the second half trying to forge ahead by using their speed up front.

Oke’s player of the match Molly Marvin used her skill and determination in midfield to keep the visitors at bay. This, combined with strong tackling from defenders Lois Rowlands and Melissa Pinfield prevented several shots on the Oke goal but their keeper was still forced to make several crucial saves.

Oke regrouped and worked well together to keep possession and push forward, piling on the pressure towards the end of the game.

The team were delighted with their first league win of the season.
