Steven Hill Memorial Cup
Chagford 6
Moretonhampstead 2
GLORIOUS sunshine shone down on Chagford as the town hosted the Steven Hill Memorial Cup match between Chagford and Moretonhampstead for the very first time.
The two neighbours went head to head to raise money for the Devon Air Ambulance Trust. Chagford came through safely though the final scoreline did not reflect the tight nature of the game.
Both sides played attractive football, the result more due to the hosts converting their chances and Moretonhampstead having played the day before.
The home scorers were Andrew Davis and Roger Bonaparte with two apiece, Adam White and Tom Stanbury. Moretonhampstead battled throughout and got deserved goals from Damien Weston and Keith Sullivan.
The match was well attended by supporters from both towns and ended up raising a magnificent £331.50 for the air ambulance. Both clubs expressed thanks to referee Jon Clark and everyone else who made the day a success.
