OKEHAMPTON boosted last week’s performance with a double figure score line on their home season opener. 

A large crowd enjoyed Argyle’s new facilities and 90 minutes of entertainment. Argyle saw six changes in the squad due to injury and ill-timed holidays. 

After an open first ten minutes seeing both sides go close, Okehampton broke the deadlock with Josh Tickner poking home. 

This seemed to relax Okehampton and in due course the goals followed. After a number of missed chances from Ausden, Luke Alden fired home from 25 yards with an unstoppable left foot strike into the top corner. 

Ausden made amends for his missed opportunities by firing in a quick first half hat-trick. Arguably the goal of the season saw the ball rolled into his feet, flicked over the defender’s head on the turn, Bergkamp style, then instantly dispatched into the far corner of the net. 

Half-time came 5-0 with the Sidmouth keeper feeling hard done by after a number of amazing saves. 

The second half saw the crowd of 150 plus enjoy similar. 

Oli Crimmins, stepping out from defence, fired a killer strike to make it six. Josh Tickner fired home four minutes later to make it seven. Ross Voaden, back from two seasons out injured, replaced Ausden and instantly went on to open his account for the season with a header to make it 8-0.

Harry Tickner had his reward for an amazing performance with a 25-yard strike. His brother took the spoils though, finishing off the scoring with a superb penalty to bring up his hat-trick. 

The Argyle gave little away all day. The midfield of Haymen and Kinsey worked hard all afternoon and created chances time and time again. There was a clean sheet for goalkeeper Dearing and a boost to the confidence throughout the team.
