OKEHAMPTON ARGYLE 3
COLYTON 2
AFTER a a couple weeks of games abandoned and some tough away games Argyle found some form back on a better surface. With injuries and absences still playing a strong hand in team selections Oke’s changed formation was to try and attack the game.
The game started off tight with both teams having chances. A number of near misses defined the early stages. However, a game-changing strike from Luke Alden set the Argyle tone for the rest of the game. His strike from 25 yards, which confused the goalkeeper, with the movement and dip on the ball found its way into the back of the net. From then on Argyle seemed to dominate the game. However, a mistake in the new formation cost Oke to concede a goal late in the first half.
In the second half they started strongly with chances all happening in front of the Colyton goal; the visiting goalkeeper made some good saves kept it at 1-1.
Another good move, however, saw the ball fall to Harry Tickner who made no mistake in firing into the Colyton goal. A couple substitution for Argyle saw Hayman and Voaden introduced. In typical Voaden style he latched on to a free ball to poke home for 3-1, taking the game out of reach of the visitors.
Nine minutes to go and another mix-up when the ball should have been cleared saw what was a consolation goal to Colyton make it 3-2.
All the Argyle players played well, with Dale Chadwick scooping man of the match.
