aOKEHAMPTON Argyle were unable to raise a side for their away match at Appledore last Saturday and had to forfeit the fixture.
They called off on Thursday, when manager Jamie Ware informed the club that he only had six players available. Apart from the £250 fine imposed by the South West Peninsula League for failing to fulfil the fixture, Argyle were also docked three points.
Since that was their sum total for the season so far, they now sit at the bottom of division one East with no points at all.
Club secretary Charlie Bond said this is a sad reflection on how the club’s fortunes have dipped this year and a meeting was held on Monday to determine whether the club will see out the season or withdraw from the league.
He said:?‘The future of the club beyond this season was also debated as two important key posts on the committee have still not been filled for next season and very few players seem to be bothered about playing for the club at present.’
* Following the meeting on Monday to discuss the situation Mr Bond said he was now more positive after the club decided to continue in the Peninsula League this season.
However the club is still in urgent need of a treasurer and secretary for next season.
