Devon and Exeter seven
Kenn Valley 3
Okehampton Argyle reserves 5
ARGYLE reserves opened up their campaign in the same manner as they finished the last, by beating Devon and Exeter new boys Kenn Valley.
The visitors took the lead when Corey Burns headed in from a corner and made it 2-0 when the same player cut in and slid the ball through the keepers’ legs.
The score went to 3-0 when Steve Madge headed in from good work on the wing by Josh Tickner leaving Okehampton happy at half time.
Kenn Valley scored early in the second half with a great lob from outside the box and then benefited from a big deflection from another shot from outside the box taking it to 3-2.
At this point Okehampton got hold of the game and Darren Gilbert ran onto a long ball and tapped in first time to make it a two goal advantage at 4-2.
The lead was further extended to 5-2 when Rich Wonnacott headed against the bar and Corey Burns knocked in the rebound.
Kenn grabbed one more from a corner after loose marking from the Okehampton defence. All in all a good start to the season from the reserves.
Meanwhile in the Devon and Exeter premier, Okehampton lost 3-1 at home to Heavitree with Lee Coleman scoring for Argyle.
