ARGYLE took the Devon U14 plate final after extra time with a 3-2 victory on the Tiverton Town ground Ladysmead.
Captain Harry Camies opened the scoring with a penalty after a push from a corner and calmly slotted it to the goalies right, only for St Martins to equalise within a minute of the restart. Connor Madge scored after some good team play to retake the lead only for St Martin’s to equalise again within a short space of time to make it 2-2 at the break.
The end of the second half was a tense affair with neither team wanting to make a mistake taking the game into extra time.
Substitute Ethan Drew scored the winner two minutes from the end after using his pace to outstrip the defenders.
Team coach Steve Madge said how proud he was of the whole team and is thankful to those who made the journey to Tiverton to support the boys.
OKEHAMPTON Argyle U12s welcomed a touring team for a Sunday friendly at the Ashbury 3G pitch. Everside, from near Dursley in Gloucestershire, were staying at Ashbury and wanted a full scale practice match to start their preparations for next season when both teams will be playing 11-a-side. Both teams played some good football and used the space available well.
Okehampton took their chances and ran out 6-2 winners with Everside enjoying their weekend in Devon so much they are already planning to do it again at the ned of next season.
