Devon and Exeter two
Chagford 6
Newton Reserves 1
CHAGFORD demolished the city side that had at one time promotion hopes of their own.
Astill-Sheppard opened the scoring as early as the ninth minute with a cool finish. When Reuben Sampson scored in the 35th minute, it seemed as though the hosts were coasting.
Newtown netted just before the break to put a different light on the matter though. For 15 minutes after the break, it seemed Newtown were going to make a game of it until man of the match, Chagford’s Will Cork, collected the ball in his own half, outpaced everyone and finished well when one on one with the goalkeeper.
An Andrew Davis’ goal immediately after floored the visitors and went on to concede two more through Sampson and Ollie Squire.
Reserves into top gear
Devon and Exeter nine
Chagford Reserves 9
Central Reserves 0
CHAGFORD ruled this match from start to finish and ended their league season on a high, climbing to second place in the division. Now they await others’ results to determine their final placing.
Doubles from Darren Siwiec, Dan Stone and substitute Adam White were supplemented with goals from Jack Snell, Kes Hirst and Marcus Manners-Chapman.
The Reserves have at least one more match, a Hutchings Cup quarter-final some time in March but need to be available to support their first team colleagues.
