OKEHAMPTON Smallbore Club held the Devon County air rifle and air pistol shoot at their indoor ranges here in Okehampton.

Shooters came from all over the county and beyond, to shoot over the four days.

Okehampton did particularly well this year, with three members shooting personal bests on the day in the ten metre air pistol competitions. Sharon Bartlett was second in class B of the ten metre, while Rachel Martyn was first in class C, while Richard Elliott won his class D.

Over the two days of last weekend, the club held the annual open meeting for lightweight sport Rifle, sport air pistol and 10m air pistol.

The sport course consisted of precision and duelling and is a challenging competition.

Okehampton were well represented and in sport rifle class A Laurence Bennie was in brilliant form, winning his duelling section to be third overall.

Jason Ponsford won class B after being second in both sections. In class C, new member David Goodwin-Hughes shot in his first competition with Charlie Wilkins who was second in the precision and sixth overall.

In the sport pistol competition, Sharon Bartlett in class B was third overall and in class C, Philip Sambles was third overall.

Sharon also shot in class B of the ten metre air pistol competition and was third overall, and in class C, Richard Elliott was second.

The club thanks Yvonne and Bernard Rendle for all their work organising and scoring the competitions and to all the many other club members who helped on the day.
