THE Lambs recorded a well deserved victory over a strong Exmouth side last Wednesday evening.
The visitors started the game on the front foot and almost took the lead in the fourth minute, when Jack Crago made a great break down the left wing, his cross found Steve Rogers in the penalty area, but his shot was inches wide of the target. A few minutes later fine work by Glynn Hobbs saw Shane Krac thunder a shot just wide of the target from fifteen yards.
The Lambs took a deserved lead in the 17th minute. Hobbs and Crago exchanged passes which resulted in Hobbs firing home 18 yards. The visitors continued to control the game, with Exmouth limited to counter attacks, with their best effort coming in the 38th minute when Charran made a fine run down the right, his cross was headed well wide of the target by Denny from six yards.
Two minutes later they were awarded a free kick 20 yards out, but Denny put it way over the bar.
The Lambs continued to play some really attractive football and doubled their lead in the 42nd minute. A flowing move saw Josh Robins find Jack Crago who made made a penetrating run into the penalty area where he was brought down. The referee had no hesitation in awarding a penalty kick. Hobbs made no mistake from the spot as he thundered the ball home.
The Lambs started the second half at a very high tempo, Hobbs saw his shot flash past the post from a short corner kick. Steve Rogers then saw his effort ruled out for a push by Hobbs in the build up.
It was not long however before the Lambs got their third goal, a great passing move involving four players saw Glynn Hobbs become provider when his fine pass found Rogers who calmly slotted the ball home from a difficult angle.
This stirred Exmouth into action and they had their best period in the game in the last quarter, as the Lambs seemed to take their foot of the gas. However the home team found Josh Oak in fine form making a great double save in the 86th minute to deny Exmouth from reducing the deficit. The Lambs should have increased their lead a minute later when a fine shot from Rogers was scrambled off the goal line. Exmouth scored in time added on, as the Lambs recorded another fine victory.
It was a really good team performance, every player needs to be congratulated on their individual level, they work hard and play for each other, which is making them a good team.

THE Lambs produced a great team performance in this FA Vase tie, playing against a team one tier higher in the football pyramid, they controlled the game for long periods.
The Lambs made a fast start and almost opened the scoring in the 4th minute when a great move saw Jack Crago break down the left producing a good cross to put Glynn Hobbs in on goal but his shot flew inches wide of the target.
Four minutes later the Lambs scored following another fine run by Josh Robins. His pass found Hobbs who played the ball off to Steve Rogers who calmly placed his shot in the top corner of the net.
Seven minutes later they increased their lead when Robins made another penetrating run. His perfect pass found Shane Krac, who scored with a thunderbolt from twenty five yards. The Lambs were really controlling the game at this stage; both Hobbs and Crago were just off target with fine efforts, before Rogers had another fierce shot saved by Easterbrook in the home goal.
On the half hour Josh Oak was called upon to make a smart save to deny Peck from reducing the deficit. Two minutes later the Lambs made it three when Robins found Krac with a fine pass who fired the ball home from fifteen yards. The visitors should have increased their lead but Hobbs was denied by Easterbrook.
The second half saw the Lambs putting more pressure on the home teams defence, Easterbrook made some good saves to deny Rogers, Hobbs and Crago.
Things got worse for the home team when Billing was sent off for a second yellow card for a crude tackle on Rogers.
The home team missed a great opportunity to reduce the arrears when on a counter attack a fine pass from Morgan was just out of the reach of the on rushing Mooney in the six yard box.
Shane Krac was denied his hat trick when Easterbrook made a terrific save pushing his fierce shot away for a corner kick. Another great passing resulted in the Lambs increasing their lead when Luke Brown produced the perfect cross between defence and keeper for Ricki Shepherd to fire home at the far post.
Shepton Mallett never gave up and reduced the deficit in the 82nd minute when Lacy made a run down the right — his cross was forced home by Morgan at the far post.
Two minutes later the Lambs scored their fifth goal when Ricki Shepherd was brought down in the penalty, Shane Krac rifled home the spot kick to complete his hat trick.
In the dying minutes a fine pass found Hobbs who beat two defenders before finding the far corner of the net to complete the scoring.
A great all round dominant team performance, with everyone playing their part to beat a team at the next level. There were a number of outstanding performances but man of the match was Shane Krac who ran the midfield along with scoring a hat trick.
The Lambs visit Keynsham Town in the next round on Saturday, September 24.
