IN the Tavistock Golf Club Men’s Championship, Adam Bridgewater topped the leader board with a gross 70.
The runner-up was David Turnbull with gross 73 and in third place Graham Ruth with gross 74 on count back from Will Stenhouse. In the David Walls Trophy for the nett winner, Graham Ruth, on count back from Tom White, scored nett 69 to take the trophy. In third place was Alan Doidge with nett 71 .
The ladies’ Guest Day was played in ideal golfing conditions — not too hot and with a slight breeze! The scoring was tight but Maggie Hillman and her guest Gilly Jarvis won the day with 46 points on countback from June Kendall and guest Liz Collier. In third place was Janet Kiely and guest Carol Skrzpczak with 41 points.
Maggie and Gilly, as winners, won the Rosemary Cook Cup. Guest nearest the pin on the seventh, Carol Skrzypczak; guest nearest the pin in two on 14th, Beth Ratcliffe; Tavistock nearest the pin on the fourth, June Kendall; Tavistock nearest the pin in two on 14th, Jayne Wright.
The lady veterans played for the Margaret McKee Trophy. Jenny Kay won the cup with an excellent score of nett 69; the runner-up was Patty Congo on nett 83. Another excellent score was made by Jean Thomas who, in the 14 medal Kay Irish Trophy, had a nett 51; the runner-up was Myra Sussex with nett 61.
