Torbay 3

OKEHAMPTON’s first team hosted Torbay in the last pre season friendly before the league starts next weekend. Both sides are in the same division so wanted to have a decent game and see what the standard will be this year.

It got off to a shaky start for both sides, however Torbay pressed the attack and were the first to have a shot on goal but to no avail. The Okehampton defence of Simon Bourne, James Rogers, Rob Hall and Caleb Bourne, accompanied by the the solid Luke Liversidge in the sweeping position gave the Oke attack some good outlet balls, which led to a number of counter attacks.

The Torbay keeper was having a great day and was able to pull off some good saves.

Torbay were the first to score, quickly followed by an equalising goal from Nick Luxton, set up by Liversidge.

The Okehampton attack of Luxton, Joff Stephens, Josh Speak, Jack Watson, Luke Miller and Reuben Bourne all combined to create some nice opportunities, while Neil Rowlands and Ali Hill on the wings kept up the unrelenting pressure up to the half time whistle.

As the second half whistle blew it was the same story as the first — both sides taking shots and creating good chances.

Torbay scored after a mistake by the Oke defence but yet again the home side were quick to respond with another well worked goal seeing Liversidge bag a goal making it 2-2. Towards the end Torbay scored from a short corner to win the match 3-2.

This was a good warm up game for the season.
