Truro B 0

OKEHAMPTON A travelled to Truro for a rearranged fixture on Sunday following a superb 2-0 win against Marjon D on Saturday.

Oke were keen to consolidate their position in the league and targeted a back to back victory. The game started brightly with both teams having lots of possession in the midfield but with neither side looking that threatening.

It was Truro who looked the most dangerous at the end of the first half, but thanks to two superb shot stopping saves from keeper Andrew Hookway it remained 0-0 at half time.

Following a half time team talk from skipper Chris Luxton the away team felt confident they would make the breakthrough in the second half.

Excellent wide play from Toby Lloyd and Stuart Jarvis resulted in Okehampton penetrating the D and while they maintained pressure on the Truro backline they were unable to convert a string of penalty corners.

It was not until solid midfield play by Jaden Reed and Joff Stevens saw Okehampton finally break the dead lock with Luxton slotting past the stranded keeper.

With the wind in their sails, Okehampton capitalised and continued to play attractive hockey. Following skilful play by Jake Lloyd, Truro’s only answer was to stop the ball illegally on the line; thankfully Brett Lawson converted the penalty stroke. Truro did not sit back, they changed their formation and started to camp in Okehampton’s half. Tireless work at the back from Caleb Bourne, John Jarvis and Man of the Match Simon Bourne resulted in Okehampton keeping a clean sheet and achieving their target of back to back wins.

The team now sit eighth in the league and with two fixtures remaining have now guaranteed their league survival following a six point haul this weekend.
