Bideford v Chagford

CHAGFORD batting first were in dire trouble at 16-2 against the superb Bideford opening attack of Chris Luxton and Fred King. 

Luxton accounted for Gary Sizmur and  Billy Searle both for ducks while King dismissed Holland for 9.   

Henry Gordon-Lennox and Arnie Searle then combined in a stand of 70 before was run out due to a mix-up for 25. 

Gordon Lennox was next out at 106 for 50, and contributions from skipper Del Lammonby 42, Jake Barber, aged 16, scored 30 (including two sixes) and Steve Sizmur 16 not out saw Chagford reach a useful total of 193. Chris Luxton was outstanding for Bideford with 4-37 in his 13 overs and Matt Betties moped up the tail with 3-25.

Bideford never recovered from losing Matt Allin (4) Andy Wedde (5) James Ford and South African professional Mike Young (8) and continued to lose wickets  on a regular basis to finish on 82 all out, with only Marc Bettis (21) and James Ford (13) making double figures. 

Gary Sizmur in a 12 over spell took 2-30 with sustained accurate bowling, Steve Sizmur 2-6 and 16 year Billy Searle 4-24 with skipper Lammonby opening the bowling with an economical spell of 1-11 in 7 overs

Man of the match however was Henry Gordon Lennox with his half century in only 45 balls when Chagford were in trouble and acting as stand-in wicket keeper took three outstanding catches and a stumping .

Chagford won by 111 runs.
