IN what was Okehampton Argyle's U8s first full season they can be proud to have remained unbeaten — a tremendous achievement from a fine group of young players.

This fine team spirit has been instilled by the supurb coaching from Steve Madge and Ian Wilson, and well supported by Angela Dennis.

The boys travelled to Tiverton on Saturday for an end of season tournament and later a presentation from the Mid Devon League. The tournament had to be shortend due to a pitch being waterlogged so each match was reduced to six minutes one way.

Argyle attacked from the whistle and laid siege to the Cullumpton goal which was eventually pierced when Harry Pope unmarked in the penalty area for him to cooly side foot home for the only goal of the match.

Exeter Panthers U8s 0

THE Exeter Panthers proved a strong side and the game was played out to a 0-0 draw. It was backs to the wall stuff at times for Argyle but hey never gave up in defence or attack.

Moors Youth U8s 0

MOORS Youth proved tough opponents in this end to end match. It was left to Harry Pope to pop up for his second of the tournament and this was to prove enough to grab the points.

PLAYING the other stand out team in the league Argyle played out a stalemate in an entertaining match.

IN these very short matches Argyle attacked with eveything but just could not find the goal that they needed to progress into the semi finals.

It was somewhat dissapointing for Argyle to have not lost and not conceded a single goal to be going home early.

The presentation of trophies was held after the final and each of the players recieved a trophy from the mid-devon league president.

Cowan Wilson collected the trophy for managers award for the best contribution.
