IN DIVISION one, Okehampton D were at home to Anchorage B in the Okehampton and District Table Tennis League.

Okehampton went into a 3-0 lead. Luke Bennett beat Dave Wilson, Sarah Jackson overcame Roger Gilbert and Mari Baldwin beat Colin Brooker. Wilson pulled one back against Jackson as did Brooker but Bennett and Baldwin went on to score their maximums and combined to take the doubles against Wilson and Brooker for a convincing 8-2 win for the Okehampton side.

League leaders Tavistock were at home to second place Bridestowe. Angharad Beman just lost out to Mark Fogerty 11-8, 11-9, 9-11, 5-11, 4-11. Bridestowe’s Mark Tancock won the next against Lauren Loosemore, who was playing up from division two. Tancock went on to complete his maximum.

Peter Hicks pulled one back for Tavistock against Phil Down and went on to beat Fogerty as well. Loosemore did really well to beat Down. Fogerty and Down took the doubles against Beman and Loosemore for a 7-3 win for Bridestowe.

In division two, Okehampton F were at home to Gunnislake A. Mike Kinger beat Frank Cockburn in the first game. Connor Madge did well to beat Jack Flockton to level at 1-1 and Tom Madge saw off Michael Alexander to put the Oke side 2-1 ahead. Kinger went on to score a maximum with team mates Flockton and Alexander putting another three on the board between them. Kinger and Flockton teamed up to win the doubles against Cockburn and Connor Madge to give the Gunnislake side a 7-3 win.

Finally, Okehampton G were at home to Moretonhampstead. Okehampton won the first two, with Morgan Holt beating Richard Underhill and Tom Chastey doing well to beat David May. Jude Shea won the next against Will Ash and Underhill beat Chastey to level at 2-2.

Shea beat Connor Madge in a hard fought 15-13 in the third and went on to complete another maximum. May won the last singles against Madge and joined Shea in the doubles, winning against Holt and Ash for a 7-3 win for Moretonhampstead.
