AT the weekend Okehampton Golf Club held its Club Championship.

With the course in superb condition, members played 36 holes over the two days to compete for this prestigious title, culminating in an exciting finish on Sunday afternoon. With only four shots separating the nine best scores from Saturday it was all to play for on the second day.

After some gripping golf Gareth Holt was victorious, becoming the 2015 club champion with a gross score of 150.

In second place with a gross score of 151 was Steve Peake and in third place Paul Rattenbury with a gross score of 153; fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh places all scoring 155 went to Paul Prouse, Del Owen, Evan Rees and Kevin Pedrick respectively.

Del Owen took the silverware in the over 55s category, winning the Leonard Tankard.

The winner of the 36 hole Handicap Competition after an impressive nett 57 on the second day of play and winning the Hutchings Cup was 15 year old Peter Howell with a nett 125. Second place went to Paul Prouse with a nett 131 and third place to James Stacey also nett 131; fourth and fifth places went to Steve Peake and Paul Rattenbury respectively both scoring nett 135.
