Petroc division two
Okehampton ladies’ seconds 2
Sidmouth and Ottery
ladies’ fourths 0
OKEHAMPTON travelled to Ottery St Mary at the weekend for the return match against Simouth and Ottery fourths.
Despite the opposition being further down the league table Okehampton were prepared for a hard game reinforcing their midfield with occasional second team players Louise Weller and Jess Medland.
The game started well for the visitors who dominated play in the first half, driving the ball forward into and around the attacking D constantly using wingers Emma Wiseman and Kim Davey to spread the ball wide which created great opportunities for attackers Alex Collins, Viv Weatherington and Alice Wiseman to take shots on goal.
The opposition goalie was strong but eventually Alex Collins opened the score for Okehampton and it remained that way to the end of the half.
The second half was a different story with Sidmouth and Ottery being far more on the attack, leaving Oke’s player of the match Anna Luxton at left back, with plenty of opportunities to put in some excellent tackles and feed the ball back through the midfield.
Sweeper Nicola Stoneman was kept busier and right back Debbie Pritchard got stuck right in, taking possession of the ball and running it forward towards the attacking D.
Goalkeeper Lucy Wiseman was also now fully involved in the game when Oke conceded a number of short corners in a row; however, these were all keenly defended and none conceded.
Alice Wiseman then took the pressure off Okehampton by scoring a superb goal, from a pass in by Kim Davey; perfectly position on the post, she touched her sticked to it and it slammed in to give Okehampton a well deserved 2-0 win.
