SATURDAY was Captain's Day at Okehampton Golf Club on August 25. Winners on the day were Ron Copeland and Mike Davis with 45 points.
In second were Alan Dunn and Alan Jeffery with 44pts winning on the back nine from Mark Wonnacott and Barry Coaker in third.
The captain, John Haley, thanked all those who, despite the inclement weather, turned out to play in the competition, parted generously with their cash to boost his chosen charity; to the greenkeepers for preparing a good course in very difficult conditions and the office and pro shop for their hard work and professional organisation.
On Saturday members competed for the Jim Butcher Medal which was won by Steve Pike with a nett 61.
The division one winner was Arnie Searle nett 64, in second place Simon Taylor net 65 winning on the back nine from Chris Hurley in 3rd place.
The division two winner was Mark Curtis nett 66, in second Rich Camies nett 67 and in third Trevor Parker nett 68. Winner of division three and the Jim Butcher Medal was Steve Pike with a nett 61, winning on the back nine from Michael McDonald in second, also with nett 61, and Matt Flavin on nett 64 in third.
