THE teams were evenly matched on Saturday resulting in exciting end to end hockey.
Sophie Tripp and Okehampton player of the match Nicky Strawbridge connected well through the middle of the pitch pushing the home attack forward but they were stopped by the solid Mannamead defenders preventing any goal scoring chances.
Mannamead pounced on any loose balls and were quick to surge forward and test the Oke defence. Joey Drake and her well-drilled defenders marked tightly and with the help of their sure-footed goalkeeper Daisy Morgan, cleared the ball out of trouble.
At half time the teams were at stale-mate in this fiercely contested game. Oke piled on the pressure at every opportunity with Sandy Houston unlucky not to put her team on the score sheet.
The Plymouth team stepped up a gear attacking in waves. Oke were forced to defend several penalty corners but remained solid clearing the ball off the line. However, a quick free hit from the visitors caught Oke napping resulting in an easy goal for Mannamead.
Oke were spurred on, determined to go for the draw they deserved. The home team pushed towards the Mannamead goal but outstanding saves from their keeper denied Oke any points.
