Okehampton ladies firsts 2
Penzance 4
PENZANCE started fast and Okehampton soon found themselves a goal behind from a short corner.
Okehampton's Jo Moppett was fired into action and in a solo move took 15 seconds to glide past six Penzance players and place the ball firmly past their goal keeper.
Penzance were swiftly back on the attack and were awarded a penalty flick but Okehampton's goal keeper Shannon Osman denied them their goal with a steady save.
All this action in the first ten minutes set the mood for hard play.
Penzance continued at pace and Jane Jones and Rachel Hammett put up strong defence for Okehampton.
Penzance finally broke through and came back at Okehampton with another goal following a cross into the circle from their wing. Okehampton, undeterred, pressed ahead and Hannah Whiteley passed to Kim Davey in the circle who seized the moment to score. It was 2-2 at half time.
During the second half Jo Moppett continued her skilful manoeuvres around the Penzance defence resulting in many near misses at goal.
The visitors never let up and they scored their third goal from a strike which deflected off the stick of an Okehampton defender.
Hard play continued and by now there were quite a few bloodied knees from falls.
In the last five minutes Penzance found space in the circle to score their final goal.
