TRURO A 3
OKEAMPTON MEN’S FIRST 1
ON a windy but dry Saturday morning Okehampton travelled to Truro looking to improve on last week’s performance.
Starting strongly Oke moved the ball around well with quick passes from Rod Gers and Rob Hall distributing the ball from the back. A loose pass in the midfield was snapped up by a Truro player who drove for the goal; he crossed the ball towards goal, finding the winger on the back post, who tapped it in.
Oke regained their composure and started to take control of the game but an unfortunate injury forced some re-organisation in the defensive line. Reuben Bourne and Jack Watson adapted to their new midfield roles and were able to move the ball up towards the Truro goal. Excellent link up play from stand in captain Josh Speak and Timon Chapman led to the Okehampton equaliser and the first half ended with honours even at 1-1.
Heading in to the second half, Oke upped the tempo of their game and moved the ball quickly to put the pressure on the Truro defence. Truro were able to match Oke for pace, and with their extra players they were able to stretch Oke midfield and gradually the cracks appeared allowing Truro to score two more goals before the final whistle.
Okehampton will head into next week’s home game against North Devon looking to get back to winning ways.
