TORBAY 6

OKEHAMPTON MEN’S FIRSTS 3

TORBAY, like Okehampton, had got off to a good start to the season with a convincing win the week before.

The game started at a ferocious pace with both teams zinging the ball around and it was not long before the home team started to dominate the visitors and Torbay took an early lead.

Towards the end of the first half Torbay won a short corner with a well-worked routine in which the ball found itself in the back of the goal.

The goal had a positive effect on the Okehampton team who enjoyed a dominant period of play which resulted in a superb run from the returning captain Liversidge who skilfully took the ball into the Torbay D and dispatched a cracking shot into the Torbay goal.

Just as the half was about to end, Torbay launched an attack which resulted in a cool finish from the Torbay striker to make the half time score 3-1.

The second half started with spell of Okehampton dominance and a sweeping move involving Miller, Paterson and Bourne, resulted in a penalty flick which was casually converted by the skipper. Oke then conceded a short corner and a superb drag made the score 4-2.

With the game moving into the final quarter both teams started to looked tired and with Okehampton chasing the game they were caught twice on the counter attack by a ruthless Torbay side who made the score 6-2. There was still time, though, for Liversidge to score a hat-trick and make the final score 6-3.
