RUNNERS were treated to a cooler climate, perfect for running, at the third Lydford Dash on Saturday.
Sixty two runners came to Lydford Summer Fair on Saturday to take part in the event.
The Lydford Dash is a cross country race that is just shy of five miles and takes runners on the edge of Dartmoor, through fields, wooded paths and the beautiful Fernworthy Down.
The first runner home was Ben Neale of Tavistock Run Project who broke his own course record and completed the run in an excellent 27 minutes 39 seconds, shortly followed by his teammate Jordon Andrews in 27.51.
The ladies’ race was won by Tavistock Run Project’s Rachael Malthouse for the second year running in 33.20.
Among the age category winners were Simon Fitze from Erme Valley Harriers who was first male veteran 40, Nick Percival from Bradworthy Runners who was first male veteran 50.
Allan Herdman of Tavistock Athletic Club was first male veteran 60 while Sarah Marvin of Okehampton Running Club came home first female veteran 40.
Vicky Percival was first female veteran 50 and Bridget Funnell from the Off Roadents was the first female veteran 60.
Once finished, the runners were quick to enjoy the fun of the fair, refuelling on ice cream, barbecue and cream teas plus a refreshing drink at the bar.
