OKEHAMPTON Running Club member Monica Richards stood on the podium to receive her bronze medal at the Women’s Running Series 5K, which took place along the river in Exeter.
Despite the soaring heat last month she had a good run and proved she is getting back on form after a break from the running scene. Unfortunately Monica’s success was omitted from a previous report.
This weekend saw ORC marathon man Roger Voaden run his 63rd marathon at Littledown near Bournemouth. His time of 3 hours 27 minutes was not his best but it does put him one step closer to his 100 marathon goal.
Kerry Morashti ran a five mile multi-terrain race at the Boconnoc Estate in Lostwithiel in Cornwall, in a time of 59 minutes 50 seconds to support fund raising for St John Ambulance, a charity who are often at hand to provide much needed assistance at running events.
The above sums up ORC running activities to date but excludes anyone who ran the run in the park on Sunday - results of which will be available next week.
The benefits of cross training are recognised by most runners so inclusion of other activities are much encouraged and included as part of the ORC training schedule.
With this in mind six Okehampton RC? members mounted their bikes to do the Dartmoor Classic bike ride choosing either Medio route(67 miles) or Grande route (109 miles).
These riders were J P Quertier, Rob Hicks, Molly and Sarah Marvin, David Mugliston and Tim Watson. Everyone of the ORCs completed their chosen distance.
