Okehampton 3
Yeovil 1
OKEHAMPTON entertained Yeovil and Sherbourne in the first of their double header weekend, with the visitors lying above them in fourth position.
The hosts started positively and opened the scoring early on when Tom Forrester's drag flick was unseen by the opponents keeper from their first short corner.
Yeovil though looked threatening in the opening 20 minutes or so and if it hadn't been for the heroics of outstanding keeper Andy Harvey the travelling side would have been straight back into the game.
They did finally break the deadlock when an unfortunate strike deceived both keeper and Rob Hall who was on the post. As the first half came to an end the home side were starting to threaten a lot more and a couple of good chances were created but just weren't taken.
The second half saw the home side dominate the chances and they were soon in front again, the ever impressing Daan Rademaker having the easiest of tasks to tap the ball in after some wonderful passing from Josh Speak and Forrester.
The returning James Rogers and Luke Miller made a real impact and Rogers pressed the game high from right back creating a few chances for the team.
Miller then went on a run and calmly slotted home a third before Speak rattled the post with an open goal at his mercy. Yeovil failed to create as much second half mainly due to the work rate of Andy Paterson and the sensational Sam Whalley but anything that did get through them was dealt with with ease by Rogers, Will Cooper and Luke Liversidge.
Chard 1
Okehampton 2
AFTER their dominance against Yeovil the depleted visitors looked to move within a point of top spot with a win against a solid Chard side.
A reshuffled midfield saw centre forward and skipper Mark Parsons playing in a defensive midfield position and a first appearance for Josh Balsdon and Jonathan Hobbs, Ed Howard also made the trip after missing several weeks. Even with their fragile midfield the traveling side looked the hungrier and took the game to the hosts.
They created a few good openings with Balsdon pace really threatening the defence ever time he got the ball. Tom Forrester opened the scoring with a trade mark drag flick from their first short corner and the visitors looked fairly comfortable. Luke Liversidge sent their centre forward flying with a sensational tackle and really set the bench mark of things to come.
The second half saw much of the same with keeper Harvey having little to do, Okehampton struggled to get a scoring opportunity and then conceded from a smashed ball into the area which was deflected over the stranded keeper. It was the visitors though who had the last laugh as both teams pushed for a winner.
The away side won a short corner and this time they made no mistake, Parsons swept the ball to the superb Sam Whalley and he deflected it into the net to give the visitors all three valuble points, moving them within a point of the leaders.
