South East division one ISCA B 3
Okehampton 1
OKEHAMPTON travelled to fourth place ISCA last week and the first half saw the game go from end to end at a frantic pace.
The only goal came from a ISCA short corner which was expertly flicked over stand-in goalie Hayden Bond. Oke did have chances but the keeper was equal to Lewis Day's finish and Chris Luxton shot just wide.
The second half saw both sides attacking with numbers and looking threatening, with the hosts scoring on a counter. Luxton went close again and Josh Balsdon just could not get enough of a touch to put a short corner in.
The visitors managed to pull a goal back though from a short corner when Mark Parsons slammed the ball into the bottom corner to give them hope.
As they pushed for an equaliser Luke Miller came inches short of a tap in before Greg Williams thought he had got free hit in his own area but for the umpire not to blow and as man of the match Luke Liversidge and Bond did their best to try and clear the hosts scrambled the ball home.
This was another good performance from Okehampton as they continue to improve and play some real decent hockey.
Bridgwater A 1
Okehampton 4
IN this rearranged fixture the away side started positively and it didnt take long to have the lead. Jake Lloyd found Mark Parsons who found Josh Balsdon who calmly slotted home.
Oke continued to dominate and won a short corner, after the keeper saved the first attempt it fell to Brett Lawson whose powerful strike was glanced in by Balsdon.
The second half saw the away side start sloppy and concede a goal again. Okehampton pushed for more goals; Josh Balsdon with some smart thinking took a quick tap and ran at the defender and drew the goalkeeper before squaring the ball for Parsons to tap home. Balsdon again found Parsons again for the fourth with the latter getting the slightest touch to deceive the keeper.
This was again a good team performance from the young Okehampton side with superb play from Lewis Day, Will Cooper, Mark Bingham, Brett Lawson and Jake Lloyd.
