Devon and Exeter division three

Chagford 0

Upottery 1

AGAINST the league leaders, Chagford were desperately unfortunate not to get at least a share of the points.

Starting brightly and matching their opponents with some excellent play, the hosts were to see a couple of great early crosses from Josh Stanbury flash across goal with only a touch need to open the scoring.

For much of the half, Chagford were on top although Jamie Aylett had to move smartly to turn away a couple of goal bound efforts from Upottery.

The visitors' custodian at times looked decidedly shaky but was not punished for any errors.

Soon after the restart, Upottery took the lead. The ball crossed Chagford's penalty area, Johnson's driven shot was deflected aside by Aylett only for Sam Winslade to pounce from six yards out.

Chagford picked themselves up and took the game to Upottery only to find their 'keeper had found his form, to deny Miller and Davis in quick succession.

Upottery left the pitch more relieved than anything else and Chagford found a platform to build on.
