BOTH teams started strong, with quick paced attacks coming thick and fast. Eventually, Okehampton broke through Exe’s defence with quick passes between Kim Davey and Jo Moppet resulting in the first goal.

After many more attempts by both teams and consistent Oke defence from Nicki Pedrick, Carol Taylor and Ailsa Gibb, Hannah Whitely squeezed the ball past the goalie once more, to make it 2-0.

The battle continued, but despite great team work from mid players Laura Parsons, Sophie Whitely and Amanda Sim, Exe caught Oke out to score their first goal. This was followed shortly by another, bringing the score to 2-2 at half time.

The visitors continued to put the pressure on, using wide players Anna Speak and Annebelle Rademaker to manoeuvre the ball up the pitch, and after many near misses Oke gained a short corner. They used this opportunity extremely well, with Jo Moppet scoring the third goal for Oke, putting them back in the lead.

The visitors kept pushing for another goal, and continued to defend many strong counter attacks from Exe, who had a couple near misses.

Both teams fought right up until the last whistle, but were unable to score any more goals, leaving the end score at 3-2 to Oke.

Okehampton ladies’ first team finish league games for the Christmas break having won every game, to go six points clear at the top of the league.
