Okehampton 0

Dart 1

Okehampton’s first team were narrowly beaten at home by third-placed Dart in a tough encounter.

The home side started off strongly, with many an opportunity going forward, but only a select few made it into the opposition’s semi circle and none could be converted.

Dart enjoyed spells of possession and an attack from the left saw them enter the Okehampton semi circle for the first time and score past the keeper.

The home side were determined to not to give up after conceding such a soft goal.

In the last seconds of the first half, Okehampton mounted an attack and with a superb spell of acceleration, Chapman and R Bourne made it past the slower defence.

Chapman played a perfectly weighted ball to R Bourne who was past the keeper only for a Dart defender to clear the danger.

Okehampton came out for the second half determined to win. They dominated possession and had plenty of chances in the D but unfortunately for them, the back of the goal could not be found let alone the base line.

Late into the game Okehampton were awarded a short corner for a foul on S Bourne and several minutes later the umpire sent the Dart keeper off with a yellow card. This left a golden opportunity for Oke captain Liversidge to level up the score line but a stick save on the line saw the ball spiral over the cross bar.

A final attack was made and defenders Neil Rowlands, Rob Hall, James Rogers and Will Cooper worked the ball up the pitch perfectly. The captain fired a ball into the D, taking a deflection towards R Bourne who could only direct it onto the post.

The result leaves Okehampton sixth in the table, nine points behind league leaders Taunton Vale.

In their next game, they pay a visit to East Devon, who sit second from bottom in the division.
