Bridgwater 5

Okehampton welcomed Bridgwater, who had triumphed when the two teams played last year.

The match started at a brisk pace and soon Bridgwater were ahead after an attacking move beat young Oke 'keeper Morgan, who stepped in between the posts for regular keeper Hayden Bond.

The home side also called in Hayden Perrier to make his second team debut as Simon Bourne was promoted to first team duties.

Bridgwater were quite clearly dominating the game as Okehampton misplaced passes and continued to give  possession away high up the field. It was not long before the away side scored a second from a short corner.

Okehampton were being overrun in midfield despite the dogged work of Tim Morgan.

The first half was coming to an end when another misplaced  pass led to a Bridgwater break and their third goal.

The first half came to an ill tempered end as Luxton and the away keeper clashed following a rare goalmouth scramble.

Captain Brett Lawson did not hold back in the dressing room at half time and as a result Okehampton started to play more together and pass the ball around.

A tactical change saw Lawson move himself into midfield and the home side began to get back into the game.

Luxton had a great chance to pull one back for Oke but the through pass from Rowan  Perrier came off his knee and went off the back line.

A short corner to Okehampton led to calls for a  penalty flick as Lawson's shot appeared to hit the Bridgwater defender's foot on the goal  line but it was overruled by the officials, who  both had a good game in difficult weather conditions .

Bridgwater were then awarded a penalty flick as John Jarvis was adjudged to have stopped a shot at goal with his foot!

There was brief cheer from the home crowd as George Morgan appeared to have saved the flick but unfortunately for them the ball managed to slip between his pads.

Not much went the way of the Okehampton forwards and to make things worse for the home team the visitors counter attacked and scored their fifth.

Player of the match was stand in keeper George Morgan. Despite the score line the defence of Zac Middleton, John Jarvis and Scott Bending played well, and if this side can recall some of the regulars a win cannot be to far away.
