PLYMOUTH MARJONS 3
Okehampton men’s firsts 0
BOTH teams got off to a strong start and Okehampton settled in well having shuffled their midfield in the absence of skipper Luke Liversidge.
Okehampton had the early chances with great link up play from the midfield and attacking players, but an all important goal could not be converted. Marjons used their substitutes to their advantage keeping their forwards fresh, leading to an increase of pressure from the home side; they soon converted a short corner leaving the visitors trailing with much of the first half still to play.
Oke spirits did not drop though, and they mounted several promising attacks, but they were not quite precise enough to put the ball in the back of the goal.
Marjons took hold of the ball for another spell, and used their fresh legs to make runs and soon a ball was fired into the Oke D; amid the confusion, and a nasty deflection, the Marjon player at the back post made it two just before half time. Okehampton were not going to be demoralised by the score and headed into the second half by dominating the possession. However, the lack of substitutes meant that Oke had to set up much deeper than the first half and soak up the Marjons’ pressure. Several counter attacks looked promising but were thwarted by the home defence.
Okehampton settled into a strong defensive formation but after an unsuccessful attack, the Plymouth side countered at pace and potted a third into the back of the goal.
