DUCHY 2

OKEHAMPTON A 3

OKEHAMPTON A started the match in superb form, despite only having ten men.

Within the first five minutes Ben Yelland passed a fierce ball down to Jacob Smith at the corner of the pitch; he dribbled neatly past one player, crossed the ball to Will Ash, only to see a Duchy player deflect the ball into his own goal for 1-0 to Oke. Okehampton’s high press frustrated Duchy and soon after Smith dribbled past several defenders, before expertly crashing a high-speed ball into the bottom left goal corner for 2-0.

For the rest of the second half an unfamiliar back line of Charlie Glanville, John Jarvis, Tim Morgan and Ben Bowles defended relentlessly. However, the home side slid one past captain Jimmy Lewis-Humbert, making the half-time score 2-1.

At the start of the second half, Okehampton A were hungry to increase their lead. Ben Yelland managed to slap the ball past two Duchy defenders, finding Ash in space. Ash proceeded to push the ball past the Cornish goalkeeper, finding the back of the goal for 3-1 to Okehampton. Duchy responded with a second goal, setting up an exciting finish but Oke added to their tally with a cool strike into the goal and securing the points.
