Okehampton A 2
Taunton Vale D 4
THE home side only started with 10 hockey players and Taunton pressed the Okehampton's defence of John Jarvis, Zac Middleton, Tim Morgan and Ian Miller from the start. Oke weathered the storm and with the hosts up to full strength the midfield Ed Howard, Pete Hutchings and Sam Whally were able to feed Jake Lloyd and Rowan Perrier. Okehampton had their chances but Taunton did well to clear their lines working well to catch Okehampton on the break and scored.
Not downhearted wingers Stuart Jarvis and Simon Bourne worked hard this eventually led to a short corner which Jake Lloyd struck and with great skill Sam Whally tided up to put the score level at half time.
The second half saw more pressure from Taunton and with Okehampton's lack of formation saw Taunton score another two goals despite goalkeeper Haydon Bond making some superb saves.
The home side never gave up and this attitude lead to the gifted Jake Lloyd scoring only for Taunton to respond with their final goal.
This score line did not depict how well the the young home team worked.
