SOME excellent table tennis was watched at the weekend at Okehampton Table Tennis Club.

The club in Castle Road had been chosen to host an inter-county tournament with teams, who consisted of veteran players aged 40 plus, coming from Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, Hertfordshire, Hampshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Middlesex.

Fred Phillips, the chairman of Okehampton Table Tennis Club, said he is delighted that the club, had been selected for such a high ranking event.

He told the Times: ‘It is a great honour for the club and the organisers must have enjoyed coming here when we held it last about three years ago.

‘After two long days from 11am to 7pm Dorset finished on top, with Cornwall in second place but everyone enjoyed their weekend.’
