Okehampton ladies’ seconds 3

Sidmouth and Ottery ladies’ thirds 0

AFTER the success of the previous week Okehampton were determined to continue their winning streak.

Oke put the pressure on straight away to an enthusiastic Sidmouth and Ottery team with a cheeky little goal snuck past their goalie by Lesley Bingham.

The home side kept the pressure on but the competent Sidmouth and Ottery goalie was determined to keep the goals out. Okehampton seconds deflected the pressure of Sidmouth and Ottery with clear defensive organisation by Carol Taylor.

Sidmouth and Ottery came out at half time with renewed focus; but Okehampton played a cool and structured game with elegant passing between Debbie Pritchard, Elsa Frangleton and Rachel Adams, transferring the play back into the danger zone for the visitors.

The pressure of attack from Oke flustered the Sidmouth and Ottery defence creating a short corner for the home team; Alex Collins on the short ball hit a superb ball on goal, which got caught by the goalie’s kicker, but Lesley Bingham was on hand to hit the second.

Okehampton’s third goal came from a powerful strike from the top of the D by Emily Rowlands, arcing gracefully over the head of the goalie into the back of the net. This goal was created by some beautiful team passing keeping possession of the ball.

Sidmouth and Ottery kept their heads up but were facing the challenge of one touch tackles from Amanda Sim, which closed down their attack. Okehampton midfielder Rochelle Woollacott benefitted from the support play of Amanda Sim to hit the ball forward, forcing a kick on the goal line by Sidmouth and Ottery; this created the opportunity — Emily Rowlands took position on the penalty spot for Oke and the flick was on target with the Sidmouth and Ottery goalie denying Emily glory.

Okehampton player of the match was shared between Emily Rowlands and Rochelle Woollacott.
