Trelawney division two

Okehampton ladies’ thirds 1

Mannamead ladies’ seconds 1

IT was a sunny and warm day testing the fitness and stamina of both teams. In the first half Okehampton used their speed in attack to penetrate the Mannamead defence and attack the goal.

Emily Rowlands and Larissa Goodger worked well together passing the ball quickly and accurately. The team play was rewarded when Larissa found a gap in the Mannamead defence and put the ball into the back of the net.

Left wing Maddie Arden had several attacking runs picking the ball up from deep in her own half and using her speed and skill to move swiftly up the pitch. Arden was denied from converting this pressure into goals by some strong defending from Mannamead.

Mannamead had changed their formation in the second half putting their stronger players into attack and forcing the Oke defence to drop back to protect their goal. Oke’s player of the match Molly Marvin tackled and intercepted well in midfield preventing several goal scoring chances.

Mannamead ladies continued pressure resulted in several penalty corners which Oke defended resolutely. Mannamead continued to attack the Oke goal and finally found a hole in the defence for their equaliser.

This spurred the Oke team into attacking mode again leading to several shots on target but they were denied a winning goal by the Mannamead keeper.
