Okehampton 3

AGAINST a very slick Exeter University side from the start the Okehampton hockey first team looked to break a recent run of bad results.

Attacks were in abundance, and the away team looked positive. With the umpires strict the players were cautious. However, this did not hold Oke back as they looked to press their opponents.

Deservedly, mid-way into the first half, Parsons put home a nice short corner. With further pressure Oke earned a penalty flick which smashed off the bar so they went into the break 1-0 up.

With the second half came obvious pressure from the home side, but Oke persevered and doubled their lead with Miller slotting home.

Shortly after it was 3-0 following some good skill from Miller, which led to an open goal for Whalley to hit home.

The game was still eventful with Bond saving a penalty flick by the students and unfortunately for Okehampton Miller was shown a red card.

The Oke side carried on with positivity and with great work from all the players they held on for a convincing win.
